Our girls took part in Ulster Hockey’s Ards & North Down blitz this morning at Regent House.
We entered 2 teams, 1 with a group of girls who played last year and 1 with a group of P7 girls who have never really played games before but were super keen to get involved.
The girls who played before absolutely smashed it today! Defeating every school they faced - Glencraig, Towerview, Grange Park, Crawfordsburn and Abbey - conceding only 1 goal in the process. For the girls who hadn’t played they - Carrickmannon, Victoria, Regent prep and Glencraig were the opponents against who they drew twice and were narrowly defeated by 1 goal in their remaining games.
What shone through in both squads was an enjoyment of the sport and competitive attitude regardless of skills.
I hope to get as many of the children into games this year - a tricky task with 50 out each week - but this a great headache to have.
