Thinking Day 2024
Yesterday it was World Thinking Day and Founder's Day for members of the guides and scouts. This date, 22nd February, is celebrated each year because it was the birthday of both Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scout Movement, and Olave Baden-Powell, who was World Chief Guide.
The theme for 2024 is Our World, Our Peaceful Future. Pupils who are members of the Rainbows, Brownies or Guides, Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs or Scouts had the opportunity to wear their uniforms to school on Thursday if they wish.
For two reasons we will extended this invitation to include pupils who attend BB and GB. Firstly, the theme is extremely relevant this year and secondly it will help to raise the awareness of organisations such as Guides, Scouts, BB or GB that operate within our local community.
The activities, friendships and interests these organisations provide are fantastic for our young people and if yesterday encouraged one or two pupils to join up then it has been well worth taking part in.
We will offer opportunities for children to celebrate their other interests - sports, dance, music, self-defence etc - at a later date.
We haven't participated in this day in a long time in Castle Gardens, hopefully it will the first of many days in the future that celebrate the diversity of interests and hobbies enjoyed by our pupils.
