Parent Interview Plans

9th Oct 2020

Later this month i am pleased to share that we will be able to facilitate face-to-face parent interviews. You'll have read last week the level of planning that we have put into being able to host these very important meetings, arguably more important that any previous round of interviews given the impact of lockdown.

Dates and Times

Meetings will be held week commencing Monday 19th October with the Staff Development Day on Monday 2nd November being used as an additional day for some classes.

Children will finish at 1pm every day during week commencing Monday 19th October with staggered times, details will be shared next week.

Booking Your Appointment

You will book you interview times via the school app, time will be made available on Monday 12th October @ 2pm on a first come first served basis.

If posting the times is slightly delayed it'll be because something urgent has come up that needs my attention!

A notification will be sent out via the app to let you know when bookings are live so make sure notifications are turned on.

Procedures

Given the ongoing covid-related challenges we are working with the following precautions are in place.

  • Interviews will have 30 minutes allocated but will be 15 minutes in duration. This is to allow the staff to prepare parent seating between each meeting. This will also remove waiting times should interviews overrun.
  • Parents will wait outside the designated door that their child enters through in the morning. Even if it is raining you will have to wait outside! The teacher will collect you from that door at your interview time.
  • Times for classes sharing an entrance are staggered by 10 minutes to minimise potential contact with other adults.
  • Books will not be provided by staff for you to leaf through as we would be required to quarantine any book. They can be shown to parents but no touching allowed!
  • All visitors will be asked to wear a face covering during the meetings. People who are exempt from wearing a mask should wear a visor if possible. We really want to bring parents into our protective bubbles but in order for you to do so we really need your continued cooperation and respect of our procedures. Please send me a Dojo message or email if this is an issue for you and we can try to work out a solution for you.
  • Parents with children in P2, P3, P6T, P6/7S or P7 who may encounter difficulty using the stairs should contact the class teacher via Dojo. This will allow access to be arranged via an alternative entrance.
  • If you would prefer not to enter the school building you can request a telephone meeting. You will still need to book a time via the app.
  • Any paperwork that will need signed such as IEP's will be shared via Class Dojo by the teacher prior to the meeting so you will have a digital copy to view. We will not be asking you to sign paperwork at this meeting just to give us all an extra level of reassurance.

I'll provide further information to you next week but this is another small step that our school can take because of our procedures and cooperation across our school community.
