P7 visit to the Folk Museum

5th Dec 2025

On Thursday P7 went back in time, to just a few years after the Victorian period, to discover what life was like in 1905. Children would have had to rise early, do lots of chores at home before walking to school. They would have had to take a penny to pay the School Teacher and a piece of turf for the school fire. However some children would not have been able to go to school if their parents could not afford it. School life was very different. Pupils went to school from Monday right through to Saturday! Boys and girls were taught separately. No long holidays either - only two days off for Christmas! And the only other holidays were at harvest time, when the children would been needed to help out on the farm.

The photos hopefully show what we all got up to! It was a great day out! The hosts from the Folk Museum were wonderful and really made it enjoyable and educational for us all! Plus the weather was kind to us, which is always a bonus!
