P6 Visit to the North Down Museum
Primary 6 Pupils had a fantastic visit to the North Down Museum on Wednesday 11th January 2023. Pupils took part in a clay session making brooches based upon the famous Ballyholme Oval Brooches that date back to the Viking era. We also enjoyed a learning activity in the Discovery room where children discovered how we actually are informed about events from the past through work carried out by archaeologists. Children also thought carefully about the difference about archaeology and palaeontology. The most popular session of the day was the visit to the Viking Longhouse where children got to experience life as a Viking- the sights, the sounds, the smells. We also had the opportunity to dress up in Viking clothes, look at Viking artefacts and even hold some replica Viking weapons. As always, the children were impeccably behaved and complimented by both the museum staff and the staff at the Museum cafe. Well done to all our boys and girls on a fantastic curriculum visit.
