Odd Socks Day
We had great fun celebrating Odd Socks Day in school on Monday 10th November.
It signaled the beginning of our 'Friendship Week' where we focused on the importance of friendships, and how we can use our voices to speak up when we see anything wrong. This follows the theme of national Anti-Bullying Week - The Power for Good.
The odd socks help us to remember that although we are the same in some ways, we are all different in many wonderful ways.
There was a great variety of activities on offer throughout the year groups - e.g. P1 sorted pictures with friendly and unfriendly behaviour, the children in the Speech Classes enjoyed the story Best Friends or Not? by Gaby Hensen, and P5 started to look at how unkind words online can be permanent and spread quickly with a focus on the rule: If you wouldn't say it face-to-face, don't type it.
These are only a few examples of the good work taking place in every year group around the importance of looking after each other, making friends and keeping friends, and calling out any words or actions that are hurtful or harmful in any way.
In our school we talk about these things often, not just in Friendship Week. We will continue the good work and keep on working and playing hard together!
