On Tuesday 11th October two teams of eight from Castle Gardens travelled to Dunleath Playing Fields in Downpatrick for the first round of the NI Athletics cross country league.
The girls were first to tackle the 1km course and a large field of 125 runners. Our girls were led home by Clara who finished 44th overall. With points awarded according to finishing placings, the girls finished on 502 points and were placed 14th out of 19 schools attending.
The boys found the going a little tougher in the field of 136 runners. Joshua Finlay was first across the line for Castle Gardens in a very respectable time of 4 mins 30 seconds. The boys ended up overall with a total of 641 points, 16th out of 20 schools participating.
The next round is in early December with the final round in January.
