New Guidance, 10/9/21
Good morning.
I'll put online the newsletter later this morning but as you may be aware new guidance was issued to schools at 11:04pm last night and is effective this morning.
From today, should a child or member of staff test positive, the PHA will identify the close contacts and not school. This means that classes will not be closed and PCR tests on Day 2 and Day 8 are not required.
Close contacts identified by the PHA will be given instructions re PCR tests and isolation.
If a positive case is reported to school there is a letter that can be issued to make people aware. This is attached to this message.
I will issue this letter to a class if a case is reported in that class in order to make households aware given the differening circumstances within each household.
Classes currently following PHA guidance and needing Day 8 tests this weekend should continue to follow this process.
As with any new guidance there is a bit of uncertainty regarding changes. In this case, a very short period of time from issue to implmentation means even more uncertainty and headlines this morning.
I wanted to make you aware of these changes this morning before you send your child to school this morning.
Further information will be shared later this morning
