Hockey Blitz
The next round of our local primary schools' hockey blitz took place on Wednesday at Regent House in fairly unpleasant conditions. We fielded three teams, a total of 24 players, the most by far of any school taking part.
Results were really good, our first girls team won all of their 5 matches without conceding a single goal in games against Abbey, Killinchy, Carrickmannon, Dundonald and Regent prep. Our second girls team, all of whom hadn't played in 2 months, returned one win, one defeat and three draws in their three games.
The boys were a little more inconsistent, winning 2, losing 2 and drawing 2, with results fluctuating with the showers.
Despite the weather, our competitive spirit and talents shone through on a thoroughly enjoyable morning of hockey.
One factor that helped our performances wasn't the coaching of their principal, it was the new dry robes that were purchased in the New Year Sales. The dozen blue coats were the most sought after item on Wednesday morning!
Thanks to Mrs Turtle and Kerry Kennedy for their help, thanks to the parents for the lifts and support.
Next up are the qualifiers in the week after half-term, a big challenge awaits!
