Film Crew in School

Today we had a film crew from Queen’s University in school recording footage in Key Stage 2.

Pupils in Mrs Turtle’s class and Mrs Hutchinson’s class have been working together in a paired reading programme under the guidance of Professor Allen Thurston, Director of Effective Education at the university. 

The programme develops self-esteem in young readers, boosting their confidence and reading ability. Earlier this year we successfully trailed the programme with P5 and P7 pupils and this will resume in the coming weeks. 

The film crew were recording footage for educational material that will be used by the university to educate other teachers in how to effectively implement this scheme. Keepnan eye out in the coming weeks and months for some of the footage.
