Cross Country Races at Londonderry Park

23rd Mar 2023

This morning the cross country teams took part in a cross country race at Londonderry Park organised by ANDBC.

With the P6 pupils on their residential to Ganaway, some of our younger runners who ran really well in the House Competition last month had an opportunity to take part in their first competitive race.

The girls were first to compete on a muddy 1.9km course that covered most of the park. After an opening stampede through mud and puddles, the girls found their feet and put in a very strong effort. Iris led the girls home with Sophia (P4) and Charlotte (P5) not too far behind her. Strong finishes by the other team members, Victoria, Addyson, Marta and Alisa left the girls with a combined total of 85 points and just outside the medals.

The boys team of Calvin, Daniel, Rylie, Zac, Oliver, Mason and Carter were next to race. Calvin produced an extremely strong run, finishing in second place. Daniel enjoyed his highest finish of the season, powering through competitors on the home straight to finish fifth. A team total of 82 point meant the boys also finished just outside the medal places.

This was a fantastic morning of determined running, and all our team members should be immensely proud of their times and efforts.

Thank-you to all the family members and Mrs Irvine who assisted and supported this morning.
