Tuesday 7th February was internet safety day.
To mark the occasion Mr Gibson led Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 assemblies to remind our pupils how to stay safe online.
Earlier in the year Mrs Hutchinson posted a picture of a little girl that was drawn by a pupil in school. It was posted to facebook and we asked it to be shared to see how far it travelled and how many people would see it. Since it was posted it has generated the following numbers:
- the image reached over 29,000 people since it was shared on 17th November
- the image was shared 410 times
- it received 169 comments
- It was shared all over Northern Ireland including: Larne, Carrickfergus, Islandmagee and Lurgan.
- It was shared throughout UK and Ireland including: Fife, Halifax, Westport, Sheffield, Manchester, Guernsey and Lincoln.
- It was also shared across the world to the USA, Canada, Sweden and Egypt. The furthest share came from Picton in New South Wales, Australia.

This is 'Emma', our internet safety girl. She has been created, by a pupil from our school, to demonstrate how easy it is for our personal details to be shared when we enter them online.
The information in this simple picture provides a picture of Emma, her a...ge and address – all the details anyone needs to find out where Emma lives. Emma’s house could be robbed or she herself could be taken!
Someone could also use these details to create a ‘fake account’ and post abusive pictures, posts or messages online!
Pupils - NEVER share any information about yourself online! If you are online always have an adult beside you.
We have been using Emma, during anti-bullying week, as a tool to discuss cyberbullying. We will be revisiting Emma in February on Internet Safety Day.
